A new expansion for My Little Pony CCG means updated rules documents, plus this update also includes some important revisions for play formats going forward, so competitive players will want to read more about that below.
Here are the new Comprehensive Rules, Official Card Reference (OCR), Floor Rules, and Limited Format Policies documents for the release of Seaquestria & Beyond:

As you will see in those documents, Seaquestria & Beyond is the first set in Block 3. That’s exciting, but obviously has some implications for the Block format.
Block is a dynamic format that lets newer cards shine, but it shines most with a complete block of 3-4 sets, and isn’t at its best with only one set, because the resulting card pool is very small. This makes it difficult to support Block play early in a block. That said, we also don’t plan to leave fans of rotating formats without a way to play with their new Seaquestria cards, so alongside the launch of Block 3 we’re announcing the establishment of a new rotating format to complement Block: the Core format, which consists of the two most recent blocks.
We launched Block when we did because we saw there was a lot of player demand for a rotating format option, and we wanted to provide that – but at the time, there simply weren’t enough sets in print to do something like Core, which doesn’t have the card pool issues upon rotation that Block suffers from. Core will always consist of at least four sets, even upon the rotation into a new block, which will allow us to support it consistently at all points in a block.
If you’re a fan of Block format, don’t worry! It’s not going away, and we intend to continue supporting it – it will just be limited to blocks with a sufficient card pool to form a compelling format. And of course, for those who prefer eternal formats, we’ll continue to support Harmony play as well! We hope you’re as excited about the new Core format as we are, and keep an eye out for upcoming Core format events!
